Strawberry Syrup

Strawberry Syrup

I love making this syrup for Italian Cream Sodas or Mocktails. The traditional coffee shop syrups are loaded with sugar, artificial sweeteners and other poor ingredients. I wanted to create a delicious and healthy alternative. This is super simple to make and contains only 5 ingredients.

A simple ingredient syrup with real fruit and sweetened with maple syrup. You can substitute strawberries for any berry you would like.

  1. Instructions

Place 2 cups of fresh or frozen whole strawberries in a skillet over low to medium heat and add water. Once the strawberries heat up, add in the juice of one lemon, a pinch of salt and maple syrup and vanilla extract.

Simmer for 10 minutes and then turn off and allow to cool.

Once the strawberries have cooled down, place them in a mesh strainer and collect the syrup in a bowl. Press the strawberries down with a spatula or spoon to get all of the liquid out of the strawberries.

Store in a mason jar or other airtight container.
