Hot Apple Cider (From Whole Fresh Apples)

Hot Apple Cider

Every single hot apple cider recipe I have found is made from apple juice. I really wanted to make some from fresh apples. This is also made from allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg with a kick of vanilla. I used to hate apple cider because it was way too sweet. I absolutely love this one because it is naturally sweetened from the apples but without a ton of added sugar.

A delicious blend of apples, savory spice and vanilla, sweetened with maple syrup.

  1. Instructions

Chop all of your apples into chunks, place in your slow cooker, instant pot or large cooking pot for the stove.

Add coconut oil or butter to the bottom of the pan.

Add the apples to the pot.

You can add the spices in two ways,

Option 1: You can put the spices in Cheesecloth and tie the top so it essentially creates a spice bag, and then add to the pot.

Option 2: If you do not have cheesecloth, you can add the spices directly to the apples and the strain at the end.

Add the maple syrup and vanilla extract.

Add water until it completely submerges the apples.

Turn your Instant pot on the slow cooker setting on high for two hours.

If you are using stove top, turn on low heat for 2 hours with the lid covered.

Once your two hours are complete, you can remove the cheesecloth.

If you directly added the spices you can strain them out. You will already be straining them out to remove the apples.

Once the apples are strained out of your cider you can set them aside and use for another recipe like apple fritters.

Enjoy your hot apple cider and store the rest in a glass bottle or container and keep in the fridge.
