Gluten Free Italian Meatballs

Gluten free Italian meatballs

I never liked meatballs as a kid because they were too sweet and I did not like the texture of bread with beef. I honestly prefer gluten free meatballs because you do not get that same texture of bread combined with meat.

Can I use any gluten free flour?

I have only tried this with tapioca flour and coconut flour. Almond Flour and arrowroot starch should also work just fine. I am not as familiar with other flours, so I am not sure if they will work or not.

Can I use the stove or instant pot?

Yes you can. I love using the instant pot because it is obviously super convieneint and you can combine noddles with the meatballs if you want a quick meal of spaghetti and meatballs.

What Kind of Marinara Sauce should I use?

I love Primal Kitchen, but there are other great options out there. I recommend paying attention to ingredients because a lot of pasta sauce companies add sugar or low quality oils.

Gluten Free Italian Meatballs

Difficulty: Beginner Prep Time 10 mins Cook Time 15 mins Rest Time 5 mins Total Time 30 mins
Servings: 4
Best Season: Available

A blend of Italian spices, red wine vinegar and delicious marinara sauce.

  1. Instructions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit

Combine Beef, spices, vinegar, egg and flour, marinara sauce in a big bowl and mix together.

Shape the meat into meatballs and place on a baking sheet. This should make roughly 18-20 meatballs. I would advise using some unbleached parchment paper for an easy clean up.

Bake for 15 minutes and allow to cool afterwards.

    Instant Pot option:

Do the exact same thing except place the meatballs in instant pot with some coconut oil or ghee on the bottom. You can overlap the meatballs if you need to.

Add about 1/4 cup of water or broth at the bottom. You can also top with some additional marinara sauce.  Cook on pressure cooker setting for 10 minutes.

Serve over gluten free noddles, zucchini noodles or spaghetti squash.
