Date Carmel sauce

A delicious Carmel alternative

I am a firm believer that you can find a healthy alternative to anything. I wanted to make a sauce that was similar to Carmel. I found it! This tastes amazing on some toasted sourdough bread, on some apples slices or even in baked goods. Dates are great source of folate. Folate is a B vitamin that is naturally present in food. Folic acid is a synthetic version and it is used a lot in a multivitamin or prenatal. I do not recommend using folic acid.

This is a super easy recipe that is healthier than traditional Carmel sauce, which is just made with pure cane sugar.

    Pit the dates if needed.

Place the dates, cinnamon, coconut oil and vanilla in a blender and blend until they create a buttery texture. Add honey if you wish.
